7 Best Window Installers in Shoreview, MN (2026 Guide)

Alarm clock12min Read

CalendarPosted 5.03.2026

Shoreview homes have a problem nobody talks about. Most of the housing stock here was built between the 1970s and the early 2000s, which means a lot of original builder-grade windows are quietly hitting end-of-life right now — fogged seals, drafty rooms, brittle frames, and heating bills that creep up every winter. The good news: replacing them is one of the highest-return exterior upgrades a homeowner can make. The bad news: there are 50+ window installers within driving distance of Shoreview, and the wrong one will void the manufacturer warranty before the truck pulls out of the driveway.

This guide is reviewed by the Owl Roofing team — a Shoreview-based, BBB-Accredited home exterior contractor. We’re known for roofing and siding, and we’ve recently added window installation. We wrote this guide for our Shoreview neighbors, including comparisons against companies that have been doing windows much longer than we have. We’re transparent about where we fit on the list.

How We Ranked Shoreview Window Installers

We pulled BBB profiles, Google review data, and manufacturer authorization databases for every window installer with active service in Shoreview ZIP codes 55126 and 55127. To make the list, a company had to clear three minimums:

  • Active BBB profile — accredited where possible, with no unresolved complaints in the last 12 months
  • At least one major manufacturer authorization — Andersen Certified Installer, Pella authorized dealer, Marvin authorized, or Renewal by Andersen authorized
  • Verified review base — minimum 50 Google reviews with a 4.5-star or better aggregate, or comparable verifiable third-party reviews

Companies were not ranked by paid placement. We ourselves (Owl Roofing) are listed honestly, near the bottom, because we are newer to windows than most companies on this list — even though we are the only one of these companies actually headquartered in Shoreview. That tradeoff is yours to weigh.

1. Renewal by Andersen of Minnesota

Best for: Premium fiberglass replacement windows backed by a national brand.

Renewal by Andersen is the full-service replacement-window subsidiary of Andersen Corporation, the largest window manufacturer in North America. Andersen has been making windows since 1903; the Renewal by Andersen division has operated in Minnesota for over 25 years. They install their proprietary Fibrex composite windows, warrantied for the life of the home — and unusually for this industry, their installer crews are W-2 employees rather than subcontractors, which is one of the strongest indicators of quality control you can find in a home-services business.

Watch for: Pricing is consistently among the highest in the metro. Most homeowners we talk to who got a Renewal quote then got at least two comparison quotes ended up saving 20–35% by going with a multi-brand local installer.

2. Great Plains Windows and Doors

Best for: Homeowners who want an Andersen specialist without the Renewal by Andersen price tag.

Great Plains has been delivering Andersen windows and doors to the Twin Cities since 1991, operating from an Oakdale showroom that’s a 15-minute drive from Shoreview. They are the Twin Cities’ only Andersen-specific replacement window company — and a Certified Andersen Installer, which means access to better warranty coverage than non-certified shops. They do not install Pella, Marvin, or other competing brands, which is intentional: their team’s training and install processes are tuned for one product line. If you’ve already decided on Andersen, this is the cleanest path.

Watch for: Andersen-only means you won’t be able to comparison-shop other brands through this contractor. If you’re still deciding between Andersen, Pella, and Marvin, see #3 instead.

3. A Pane in the Glass Construction, LLC

Best for: Multi-brand comparison shoppers who want one installer for Andersen, Pella, Marvin, or Provia.

A Pane in the Glass operates out of Blaine — about 12 minutes north of Shoreview — and has been BBB Accredited since 2009. Owner Allen Hambleton has been in the window trade since 2001 and built the company on multi-brand expertise. They install Andersen, Pella, Marvin, and Provia, which means they can recommend the right window for your specific home rather than pushing one product line. If you want the same installer to quote three different brands side-by-side, A Pane in the Glass is one of the few contractors locally who’ll do it cleanly.

Watch for: Multi-brand installers occasionally have less depth on any one brand than a specialist. Confirm the install crew has done at least 25+ jobs in the specific brand and product line you’re choosing.

4. Pella Windows & Doors — Plymouth Showroom

Best for: Traditional wood-clad windows with a local showroom.

Pella’s Plymouth showroom is the closest factory-authorized Pella dealer to Shoreview — about 25 minutes west. Pella has been making windows since 1925 and the Plymouth team handles consultation, ordering, and installation in-house. They install the full Pella line — Reserve, Architect, Lifestyle, and Impervia — and offer a 20-year limited warranty on most models. If you want to physically see and feel windows before buying, the Plymouth showroom is the best option in the Shoreview area.

Watch for: Some Pella installs are subcontracted depending on volume. Confirm the install crew is Pella-certified before signing.

5. 1st Choice Remodeling

Best for: Homeowners bundling windows with a roof or siding job.

1st Choice has been locally owned and operated since 2010, BBB-accredited, and Minnesota-licensed. They handle Andersen window upgrades alongside roof replacement, siding installation, and composite deck builds — a full exterior portfolio. If your project mixes window replacement with other exterior work and you don’t want to coordinate three different contractors, 1st Choice can run the whole job under one project manager.

Watch for: Multi-service general contractors sometimes lean harder on the categories where they have the most volume. Ask how many window-only jobs they completed last year.

6. Craftsmen Home Improvements

Best for: Comparison shoppers who want a long install warranty.

Craftsmen has been installing windows in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs since 1991. They’re a multi-brand reseller — Andersen, Marvin, Pella, Richlin — and offer a lifetime labor warranty on their installs, which is rare in this industry. Their reputation is for fair pricing and a long warranty, which makes them a strong “second quote” pick to compare against the bigger national-brand operators.

Watch for: Lifetime labor warranties always have exclusions. Read the warranty document carefully and ask specifically what’s covered if a window leaks 8 years from now.

7. Owl Roofing — Now Offering Window Installation in Shoreview

Best for: Existing Owl Roofing customers, multi-service exterior projects, and homeowners who want a hometown contractor over a national chain.

Owl Roofing is the only contractor on this list actually headquartered in Shoreview — our office is at 1000 County Road E West Ste 135. We’re family-owned, BBB Accredited, GAF Systems Plus Certified for roofing, Minnesota-licensed and insured, and active members of the local Chamber of Commerce. We’ve earned a 5.0 Google rating across 30+ verified reviews on our roofing and siding work, and most of those reviews come from Shoreview, North Oaks, Roseville, and the surrounding suburbs we live in.

We’ll be honest: we are newer to window installation than the six companies above, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we bring is the calm, communicative process our existing customers describe — and a single point of contact if your project also touches roofing, siding, or gutters. Every Owl install, including windows, is backed by our Get it Right Guarantee — a 10-year workmanship warranty.

Be aware: Our window install volume is lower than the other six. We’re transparent about that. If completed window-job count is your top criterion, the companies above will have more reference homes to show. If a hometown family business with deep Shoreview roots is what you want, that’s where we earn our place on the list.

What Owl Roofing Customers Actually Say

Real, verified Google reviews from real customers. Owl Roofing maintains a 5.0 Google rating with 30+ five-star reviews.

Noah is the real deal. After our insurance denied our roof claim and the first roofer walked away, Noah showed up the next day and said he thought he could get us a new roof. He delivered. We came up with a nickname for him: “The Roof Whisperer.”

Tyler Moberg, verified Google review

I am an Independent Insurance Agency owner and have worked with Noah on several roof projects. The homeowners have been extremely satisfied with the quality of the work and craftsmanship Noah and his crews have provided.

Fred Zappa, Independent Insurance Agency Owner

It didn’t feel like dealing with a big company — it felt like working with people who actually care about the homes and community in the North Oaks and Shoreview area. Great people, great communication, and really solid work.

Cody Warren, verified Google review

I’ve gotten to know the team at Owl Roofing here in Shoreview and have been consistently impressed with how they show up.

How to Choose a Window Installer in Shoreview

Most Shoreview homeowners interview two or three installers before signing. A few things that matter more than they look:

Manufacturer certification, not just “we install Andersen.” A salesperson saying “we install Andersen” is not the same as the company being an Andersen Certified Contractor or a Renewal by Andersen Authorized installer. Certification gates you into the better factory warranties — and gates the contractor out if they don’t keep training current.

Workmanship warranty in writing. Manufacturer warranties cover the window itself. Workmanship warranties cover the installation. They range from 1 year to lifetime, and 10 years is a strong middle ground. The Owl Roofing Get it Right Guarantee is 10 years.

Confirm the install crew, not just the salesperson. Ask whether installers are W-2 employees of the company or subcontracted. Both can produce good work, but for a 10+ window job, a consistent in-house crew typically delivers tighter results.

Energy ratings tuned for Minnesota winters. Look for ENERGY STAR Northern Climate Zone certification — Shoreview sits in the Northern zone. Specifically: U-Factor below 0.27 and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) above 0.30. A window optimized for the Southern zone will underperform here in January.

Verify the Minnesota license. Minnesota requires a Residential Contractor or Residential Building Contractor license. Confirm yours via the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry license lookup before signing. Owl Roofing’s MN license is BC809662.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does window replacement cost in Shoreview, MN?

For a typical Shoreview home, full-house window replacement runs roughly $8,000–$25,000 depending on window count, brand, and frame material. Vinyl runs $400–$900 installed per window; fiberglass and wood-clad run $1,000–$1,500+ per window. Renewal by Andersen and Pella sit at the higher end; Window World and similar national vinyl chains are typically the lowest. Expect to interview at least two contractors and compare apples-to-apples on the same brand and model.

Should I replace my windows in winter?

Yes — most Shoreview installers work year-round, and winter installs are usually faster to schedule. Crews replace windows one at a time so the home stays heated, and quality contractors use vapor barriers and seal each opening before nightfall. We’ve installed in single-digit weather without issue. Spring and fall remain the most popular seasons, which is why winter often gets you on the calendar faster.

What’s the most efficient window for Minnesota winters?

Triple-pane windows with low-E coating and argon or krypton gas fills perform best in our climate. Look for a U-Factor below 0.27 and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) above 0.30 to qualify for ENERGY STAR Northern Climate Zone. Andersen Renewal Fibrex, Pella Reserve, and Marvin Elevate all hit those benchmarks at the higher end; budget vinyl options can hit them too if specced correctly.

How long does a Shoreview window installation take?

A typical 10-window full-home replacement takes 1–2 days for an experienced crew. Larger custom orders or homes with rotted frames or hidden moisture damage may take 3+ days. Manufacturing lead times for the windows themselves are usually 4–8 weeks from order to delivery, so the install date typically falls 5–10 weeks after signing.

Can I bundle window replacement with roofing, siding, or gutters?

Yes, and it often saves money. Owl Roofing, 1st Choice Remodeling, and Super Siders all coordinate multi-service projects. Bundling siding with windows specifically avoids paying twice for trim work and re-flashing — those steps are shared between the two jobs. See our Best Siding Contractors in Shoreview and Best Gutter Companies in Shoreview guides for the rest of the picture.
