How can I tell if my roof has storm damage?
Sometimes damage isn’t obvious from the ground. Look for missing or lifted shingles after a windstorm. After a hailstorm, check your gutters, downspouts, and the area around your home for an accumulation of asphalt granules that look like coarse black sand. You may also see dents on vents or flashing. The safest way to know for sure is to schedule a free, no-obligation inspection with one of our experts.
Do I have to be home for the insurance inspection?
While it’s not always required, we highly recommend you are present, along with a representative from Owl Roofing. Having us there allows us to point out all the damage directly to the insurance adjuster, answer any technical questions they may have, and ensure nothing is overlooked. This helps streamline the claims process and ensures a fair assessment of your property.
Will my insurance premiums go up if I file a claim for storm damage?
Generally, insurance companies cannot raise your individual premium for filing a claim related to an “Act of God,” such as a hail or windstorm. These events are considered catastrophic and are not the fault of the homeowner. However, rates in an entire area may increase after a major storm event, regardless of whether you filed a claim or not.
